As an interdisciplinary artist duo since 2011, we create site-specific installations that examine how hyper- urbanization transforms both the idea and the material reality of nature. In previous projects, our work with trees has focused on their economic use as raw material, on artificial reproductions, and on the human-centered design of future landscapes. Through large-scale, often kinetic installations and deliberately artificial constructions, we create emotionally and physically accessible situations that question what is perceived as natural, cultural, or market-driven.
Our current research continues this trajectory, but shifts the focus toward trees and plants as culturally, technologically, and atmospherically charged presences. We are interested in how plant life is protected, staged, replaced, or artificially enabled within urban environments, and how new forms and understandings of nature and landscape may emerge through the interaction of ecological processes, cultural meaning, and technological mediation.
